  • What is a Community Foundation? A permanent philanthropic savings account that builds charitable funds for the benefit of a specific community - We benefit our community by grant making, asset development, and helping individuals leave a legacy.

    funds to enhance the quality of life and sense of community in the Sunburst area.

  • Sunburst was once home to a Texaco refinery. In 2004, a suit was won by members of the community for restoration and clean-up. As the appeals process went on, that money accrued interest. The Supreme Court ruled that this interest money must be given to charity. Instead of giving these dollars away to some organization outside of Sunburst, the Sunburst Community Foundation (SCF) was formed. This kept the money at home strengthening our future.
